Facilities

 

  • BUILDINGS

                        Construction of the permanent building was  completed and the inaugural ceremony was conducted in February 2004.  Main Building has an area of 2800m2,  Information Technology/Computer Science building 1900m2, Electronics and Communication/Electronics and Instrumentation 2300m2 , Electrical and Electronics Building 1900m2, Civil Engineering 1900m2 and Library 800m2 and three workshop building each with 500m2.  The College campus is Wi-fi enabled.

 

  • CENTRAL LIBRARY

                        College of Engineering, Kidangoor has a full-fledged Library and Information Center, which provides wide range of reading and reference materials to the students. Students can use the library from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM on all working days and Saturdays. The library has a collection of over 21000 volumes of books, 23 technical national and 24 international journals, 7 popular periodicals and 6 National dailies now. We are maintaining a valuable collection of Reference books in all branches of Engineering. The reference section is having 6000 volumes of valuable reference books and the lending section is having 15000 books. In addition we have a wide collection of general and Informative books also. A student can borrow 4 books (maximum) and 1 journal at a time.

                         The books cover the syllabus of all the branches in our college. The Internet facility of the library is now functioning in the Computer Lab and any information on net can be downloaded. We have a very good collection of over 800 numbers of CDs in our Library. The CDs can be either read in the computer provided at the library or issued and thus introducing the students to the digital age. One of the remarkable changes is the Computerization of Library. For this purpose Library Management Software has been developed in our own Computer Lab. Now the search for books and journals is just clicks and pointers.

                        The library is undergoing expansion in each semester and it is expected to reach a total collection of more than 10,000 volumes of books when the college reaches its full strength. With the co-operation of the District SC/ST Welfare Board, the college started a Book Bank Scheme for the exclusive use of SC/ST students. Under this scheme the library had over 600 titles of books in the last academic year. The SC/ST students can borrow two additional textbooks under thWith the motion to exposure the dynamic developments and technologies of modern world E-journal facilities are provided in the Central library itself thus allowing students to refer articles around the globe and impart thorough knowledge & practical application of the subjects. Recently about 2300 international E-Journals are subscribed.

  • COMPUTER CENTER

                        The college is equipped with a full fetched centralized Computing facility. The Computer center have a potential of 60 systems  connected by LAN .Presently it avails 10mbps and 2 Mbps broadband internet connectivity. The users also have a choice of operating systems like Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP and Windows 7. Students can use the Computer Centre from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM on all working days

  •  HOSTEL

                        A number of hostels for both boys and girls, with good quality food and amenities are available near the College. The facilities available for boys and girls at present are adequate. Private owners manage these hostels and the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the College closely monitors their functioning. For the information and guidance of the students, the hostels have been graded on a five-point scale and published. The new entrants to the College and their parents can draw information from this and choose a hostel of their liking. Permanent Hostel buildings of the College initially for girls and later for boys will be established at the permanent site, only after the completion of the construction of various blocks

  • CANTEEN

                        There is a canteen, inside the permanent campus, catering to the needs of the students and staff of the College. Delicious vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian meals of the local cuisine, and hot & cool refreshments are served at affordable rates. The working of the canteen is strictly monitored to adhere to the acceptable standards of hygiene.

  • COLLEGE BUS

                        The college has a regular bus service plying to and from Pala, Ettumanoor,Changanachery, Thalayolaparambu, Karukachal, Erattupetta and Kottayam town to the college premises, for the purpose of conveying students and staff conveniently. The college campus is 1.5 km away from Manthady Jn. The P.T.A College of Engineering, Kidangoor operates college buses for the use of staff and students. Three buses are also used to commute students from Manthady Jn to Campus. The students of this college and their parents have great appreciation for the bus service.

  •  CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

                        The College has a society registered under Co-operative Societies Act with Reg. No. K-1006.There are about 500 members in the society including class B student members and class A staff members. It provides the students and staff with all necessary study materials including drawing sheets, textbooks, notebooks, stationery, instruments etc at reasonable cost. It is located in a room at the permanent campus very near the classrooms and the drawing hall. The students are given a discount varying from 10% to 15% for the purchases made from the society

 

  • SPORTS ACTIVITIES

                        “Don’t look for heroes, be one” is what we believe in.the college offers regular sports events to discover the potentials and develop the talents of students.The college has a permanent Volleyball court and a Shuttle court. We had purchased sports gears for all major games like Football, Shuttle, Cricket, and Volley Ball and also for Athletics. The College participated in University sports organized by CUSAT and has established themselves as major contenders.

  •  BANK EXTENSION COUNTER

                        Kidangoor Service Co-operative Bank has been extending their support from the inception and had donated the land, where the college is located.  The Bank has opened an extension counter, situated in the main building of the college.

  •   LANGUAGE LAB

                        Language Lab mainly focusing the expert English vocabulary training and Spoken practice for the all students in this campus
