   The Department was established in 2004, and now has become a full-fledged department with advanced laboratory facilities to train the students to meet the current needs of the fast changing industrial scenario.

Laboratories Under the Department

  • Basic Electrical Lab
     This lab aims at familiarizing the students with the different theorems, laws, networks, circuits etc. which are the basic building materials of all those huge electrical equipments, transmission lines, motors, generators etc. The purpose of this lab is to provide a clear concept with basic idea related to electrical circuits RC, RL,LC, RLC, etc.
  • Electrical Measurements Lab
      This lab aims at providing the basic concepts for measuring the different electrical parameters like voltage, current, power, unknown parameters etc. with precision& calibration of different types of instruments and also to impart knowledge on the working s of the different types of measuring instruments.
  • Microprocessor and Digital Lab

       This lab is equipped with latest state of the art technology equipment. It offers simple experiments for understanding the subject and advance facilities to conduct microprocessor, microcontroller and DSP Projects.

  • Power Electronics Lab
        The power electronics lab consists of different kinds of demo kits starting from SCR characteristics, study kit for D.C motor control using chopper. The lab is equipped with Digital Integrated kits, Power supplies etc
  • Electrical Machines Lab

       The laboratory imparts the knowledge about characteristics and behavior of the DC and AC Machines. Well established with all kinds of motors and generators with the total cost of about Rs.20lakhs.

Mr. Aravind Unni S., Ms. Divya Krishnan, Mr. Jojy George Koduvath and Mr. Nidhin Mohan had presented 2 papers at the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Smart Grid Technology organized by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, College of Engineering Thrikaripur from 21 to 23 April 2016.


                   The inauguration of EMERGE 2015-2016, was held on 12th August 2015 at the seminar hall, main block, by the principal Dr. Roobin V. Varghese. The function started at 9:50a.m., followed by welcome speech by EMERGE secretary Mr. Eldho Jacob (S5 EEE) and presidential address by Mr. Manu Prasad M. (S7 EEE). The lamp lighting ceremony was followed by the inaugural address by the Principal and HOD’s message by Ms. Binimol V. K. (Asst. Prof. in EEE). The EMERGE faculty in-charge Ms. Sonima M. P. (Assistant Professor in EEE) delivered the felicitation. The ex-EMERGE secretary Mr. Jojy George Koduvath (S7 EEE) also addressed the audience. Mr. Vinod P. (Assistant Professor in EIE) felicitated the audience with a small note of appreciation about the activities of EMERGE. The next session was handled by the guest Mr. Prasanth Kumar, Asst. Manager, FACT, who emphasised on the role of electrical engineers in the maintenance field and pointed out some key areas which the future engineers must focus on in their academic life. ELECTRA, the newsletter of EMERGE, for the academic year 2014-2015 was released by Mr. Anith Krishnan, Assistant Professor in EEE and was accepted by the honourable guest. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Illyas Jaleel (S5 EEE), Secretary, EMERGE.
